Jeremy Barfield

Jeremy Barfield was one of the top high school baseball players going into the 2006 MLB Draft.  His father and brother seem to think he is something special to watch, as his father has been quoted saying "If there's a better high school hitter in Texas, I haven't seen him."  His brother Josh, who just made his major league debut with the San Diego Padres and was just recently traded to the Cleveland Indians agrees with that.  We have had the chance to see his brother play at the 2005 Futures Game in Detroit and also had the chance to get an autograph.  As a Blue Jays fan I can remember watching his father, Jesse play as a young kid.  It is sure going to be fun to watch Jeremy and Josh grow and become great players just like their father.  Jeremy was kind enough to answer a few questions about signing autographs for us for the website.  We would like to thank him for his time and just wish him and his brother the best of luck.

How do you feel about signing autographs in general? Do you ever get tired of signing autographs?

I love signing autographs. Right now I'm still at the point where I get shy when people ask me for autographs, but that will change soon. I will sign as many as I have to.

Most autograph collectors have a good knowledge towards the game. Do you feel respected by them or do you feel that they are using you for an autograph?

I respect them a lot because it's such an ongoing task to purchase, trade, and collect all these cards of all these players. It takes dedication and knowledge of the game.

If you could change one thing about autograph collectors what would it be and why?

I wouldn't like to see so many autographs my brother signs for people on ebay right away. Also, the same for my dad. It shows a lack of honesty and respect.

Do you sign your fan mail or have you ever? And which would you rather sign an autograph in person or through the mail?

I would rather sign something in person because somehow I have bonded with a person by signing their item in front of them and they know I am taking time out of my day to do so and they appreciate it.

If there was one baseball players autograph that you could have who would it be and why?

Right now it would have to be Jeff Francoeur because he's a hot item right now and he's only getting better.
